Did you realise that depending on where you are in the world, the cost of a gigabyte of mobile data can vary wildly?

The Broadband Genie Mobile Data Price League 2026 has crunched the numbers from mobile data plans in 234 countries.

In the UK we pay an average of 20p/GB for mobile data but elsewhere in Europe people pay as little as 4p (Italy) or as much as £2.29 (Jersey).

Want to compare your costs? Just divide your monthly bill by your GB allowance for an approximate comparison, and let us know in the poll where you stand.

What are you paying per GB for mobile data?
  • 10p or less
  • 10p to 30p
  • 30p to 60p
  • more than 60p
  • Unlimited so no per GB figure
  • No idea!

Wherever you are in the UK you’re guaranteed to be ripped-off, that is a fact. The government don’t care, they just spout platitudes about cutting the cost of living, but it never happens.

I was staggered at the cost of mobile data when I was in France this year compared to what it was pre Brexit. Had to find WIFI spots much more than on previous holidays.
Top tip is that most large supermarkets accross Frace have excellent, fast and free wifi.
