Petition to ban mid-contract price rises for UK broadband services - sign and share now

Take 10 seconds to sign and share the Change.org petition to ban mid-contract broadband price rises for good.

The Broadband Genie team have conducted some eye-opening research about broadband mid contract price rises.

Millions of pounds are being unwittingly siphoned from consumers’ pockets due to unfair mid-contract price hikes from broadband providers.

Simply put, broadband price rises are higher now than they have ever been, with individuals on the cheapest packages hit hardest. And that doesn’t seem fair.

Even after changes from Ofcom, providers are actually hiking broadband prices MORE than before?

  • Over a dozen companies, including Virgin, Sky, BT and Vodafone are raising their prices by far above the inflation rate

  • Broadband providers stand to pocket an additional £186 million over the next 12 months

Does that seem fair? And if not, why is it happening?

Ofcom’s new rules only banned inflation-linked price rises, not fixed-pound increases.

So broadband providers currently have the right to apply price hikes, as long as they’re upfront about increases and display price changes in pounds and pence. :open_mouth:

These increases make it impossible to budget and force many to overpay for a service that should be both affordable and reliable - so Broadband Genie are now campaigning to ban mid-contract price rises entirely.

They think it is time for us to stand up for our rights and make things fairer for everyone. Staying connected should NOT come as a premium.

I have signed and shared the petition.
It seems totally unfair and underhanded, especially with the massive increase cost of living.

Looking at this, I will be expecting an additional £4 on my monthly bill from Virgin. That doesn’t feel fair and there will be lots of people in the UK who just can’t stretch any further. I’ve just had a council tax rise too.
