Starlink reliability? No FTTP option

I was just curious if anyone in the S-W or similarly rural areas anywhere in the UK would recommend Starlink? I’ve been clicking refresh on the Openreach fibre checker for what feels like a century and a half, and we have stalled at “building in the next year” for FTTP or “full fibre” as they call it.

I keep reading worrying stories about the copper switch-off and with the weather recently, thinking that it would be good to have an alternative to a wired connection anyway. It still feels a bit risky (not to mention the ethical dilemma of filling the sky with debris and making billionaires even more billionairey).

I snuck in a Cymru/Wales tag as we seem to have a lot of the same geographical challenges but any comments from anywhere would be v welcome.

We didn’t get beyond ordering it. All sounds great in their spiel., We live Rural SW with no mobile signal. need something reliable.. Starlink gave us an installation date then kept pushing it further back by email. Frustrating that you can’t speak to anyone and can only resolve issues through an online ticket system. We cancelled in the end after reading other reviews. and had to get standard part fibre BB.

Ah I missed this, thanks for your thoughts @Actiongran - I have to agree it does sound almost too good to be true. I don’t mind a ticket system as long as they get answered but like you sometimes it’s nice just to be able to pick up the phone. Was it easy to cancel or did they make a meal of it?
