How has the Digital Voice switchover affected you? ☎️

You’re probably aware by now that the UK’s old copper phone network is being retired. People talk about it as the copper, landline or “PSTN” switch-off, or just Digital Voice.

Millions of households have already switched but there are plenty still going through the process.

In theory it’s all straightforward but for some, it’s been a real headache - especially if you live in a “mobile not-spot” or you rely on a telecare device, and aren’t sure how resilient your connection will be in the future.

Whatever your experience, your story could help someone else prepare better.

Or maybe you’re still waiting to hear about your line - do you have questions?

Tell us where you are with the switch - and ask your questions or share your advice below :backhand_index_pointing_down:

  • I’ve got my notice and waiting to switch :hourglass_done:
  • Not heard anything yet :cricket:

Mine was an utter shambles from start to finish with no notice, then switching over a month earlier than specified, no notice taken of vulnerability (I don’t want to be too specific as it’s an ongoing complaint but the ISP definitely dodged a number of its responsibilities - and this is one that preens itself a good deal on service). A lot of wrong assumptions and assertions seem to have been made by Ofcom and ISPs - there was a surprisingly good article about some of it in the Guardian a few weeks ago (not sure if links work here - ‘There is real danger’: landline phone users voice fears over digital switchover | Consumer affairs | The Guardian)
