How do you stay connected when you’re travelling?

Or are you still struggling to find a solution?

Whether you rely on airport Wi-Fi, buy a local SIM/eSIM, use your roaming plan, or just take the opportunity to switch off properly for a bit, your experience could help someone else save money or stay safely in touch.

I don’t travel abroad, largely for ethical reasons, but if travelling by train - i.e. somewhere I need to work but not in a trusted office/home - I will only use the train wifi if I have no other choice. I prefer using my mobile data - it’s faster, and I think it’s safer (is it?). The times when I have used a train wifi I tend to get loads of promo emails from the train company afterwards, so it’s a bit of a pain.

For entertainment purposes I tend to have downloaded films and books before leaving home and would probably do the same if travelling further afield - more reliable and cheaper. And then I’d probably only want data for essential messaging and news.
